What People Say About Guitar Lessons at WCMA

"My daughter has a very difficult time enjoying new experiences, but immediately bonded to her amazing guitar instructor Rob. She is learning more than I had hoped for and really looks forward to her weekly lessons. The class has been easily rescheduled with 24 hour notice and everyone is very friendly and eager to answer any questions. The lessons and the expectations for learning are appropriate for each student learner, and my sweet 7–year–old says, 'best class ever!' A+++"

–Amanda H.

"My son has been taking electric guitar lessons here for 5 years. I think the program is great. My son regularly stuns me with a song he is working on and sometimes when he is just fooling around. I hear excellent music coming from him effortlessly and that is only possible with excellent instruction and a well-run business to keep it moving forward."

–Gary M.

"My son has been going to WCMA since they opened and we love it. I have tried several places before I found WCMA and I highly recommend bringing your kids here. My son loves going to guitar lesson every week with his teacher Tim who is great. The recitals they put together with all the kids are awesome to watch, you can see how much they have learned from the great teachers here."

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Guitar Lessons

What age can my child start guitar lessons?

+

We recommend age 7 as a good starting age for guitar. We will take students as young as 6, depending on their finger strength and ability to focus during lessons. For children younger than 6 or 7, we often recommend starting with the ukulele, as it's smaller and easier to handle.

Do I need a guitar for my first lesson?

+

You don't need a guitar for your first lesson as we have guitars available at the school. However, you will need an instrument at home to practice, as regular practice is essential for making progress.

What type of guitar should I get?

+

For young students, we recommend starting with a nylon string guitar as they're easier on the fingers. We also recommend getting the appropriate size guitar–acoustic guitars come in half, three-quarter, and full sizes. For adult beginners, either acoustic or electric guitar is fine, depending on your interests and the style of music you want to play.

How long will it take to learn guitar?

+

Like a gym membership, progress depends on the amount of quality practice you put in. With consistent practice of about 30 minutes a day, four times a week, you should see noticeable progress within six months. The key is regular, quality practice between lessons.

Do you teach adults?

+

Yes! We teach adult students of all ages, so if you're looking for adult guitar classes near me, we have an instructor who can work one-on-one with you.
